About the Catholic Information Center (CIC) of Southwest Michigan

The seed for the Catholic Information Center of Southwest Michigan was planted in 1996 when Jerry and Roselyn Casey founded "Holy Family Books and Gifts" - a source for reliable Catholic books, CDs, DVDs and religious articles. Since then the store has grown significantly in its outreach and has earned a solid reputation in the process. A few years ago, Jerry and Roselyn - in seeking to retire - proposed to the Bishop that the Diocese take over the store and turn it into a Catholic Information Center. The Bishop, in turn, suggested that they speak with Father Robert Sirico - the superior of the St. Philip Neri Oratory in Kalamazoo - who had previously worked 10 years for the Catholic Information Center in Grand Rapids. After consult, Father Sirico agreed to oversee the transformation.

In January 2007, Father Sirico and the priests of the St. Philip Neri House, along with a lay board of directors, reorganized Holy Family Books and Gifts as a non-profit corporation operating under the umbrella title: Catholic Information Center of Southwest Michigan. This new organization is a stand-alone entity, and is not institutionally affiliated with the Diocese of Kalamazoo. Nonetheless, it has a mission that complements and seeks to support the Diocese of Kalamazoo, and we are grateful that the Bishop has given his blessing to our efforts.

The mission of the Catholic Information Center is to proclaim the fullness of the Catholic faith in Jesus Christ, in joyful adherence to Magisterial teaching, using the most viable means of communication available. We fulfill this mission several ways:

The intent in all our efforts is to make the transforming power of Jesus Christ accessible to as many people as possible. Please pray that our efforts bear great fruit.
